Precision Cleaning

Today's precision parts — whether they are metal, glass, plastic or ceramic —often are machined or stamped to ultra-precise dimensions. Production lubricants, dust, fingerprints or other residues must be removed prior to subsequent processing or assembly.

Cleaning the parts quickly and efficiently, without causing damage or introduction of foreign matter, is a common challenge to all manufacturing.

Quality standards on finished components may require black light, particle count, water break, or other analysis to confirm cleanliness.

Cleaning with nonflammable, fast-drying solvents has been a preferential choice for decades as the process is thermally stable and highly effective on hydrocarbon lubricants, silicones, and fluorinated greases (i.e., Krytox® and Fomblin®). These fluids also are low in viscosity and surface tension, which allows them to get into tight crevices and wet all the surfaces of the parts. They also offer high solvency (“Kb Value”) which allows them to rigorously clean the surface and displace stubborn soils.
